The day before my PET scan, I should stick to a low-carb, low-sugar diet. There is something about those nutrients that may interfere with how the scan picks up what is cancer and what isn’t. The restriction does mistakenly lead some to believe that sugar “feeds” cancer, but I’ve also seen other patients online say they’ve eaten pasta the night before and had clear scans.
I am also not supposed to do rigorous exercise, which isn’t as much of a challenge.
So at this point, having completed about six PET/CT scans, plus three or so more CT scans, “limiting” myself to salads, veggies, and meats for meals the day before isn’t too difficult.
In fact, Hsuan and I tried First Watch for lunch, where I ordered what sounded like a basic Cobb salad, but in fact was a beautiful plate of greens. Faced with so many other amazing options on the menu, I would have never ordered it otherwise and was pleasantly surprised by how delicious it was.
Review and more photos coming soon @adventureswithhsuan!
Wish me good luck and let’s pray for clear scans🙏🙏
